Associate professor at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences considered chronic daily headache to be one of the common problems in patients with depression and emphasized the need for basic treatments and avoiding self-medication.
According to Radio Salamat's public relations report, Dr. Behnam Safarpour, a neurologist and epilepsy fellowship, stated in Radio Salamat's "Here's the Doctor" program that chronic daily headaches are one of the common challenges among patients, saying: Headaches that affect a person every day, especially if imaging does not show a problem, are usually classified as chronic daily headaches.
He continued: One of the factors that exacerbates this type of headache is excessive use of painkillers, which can itself cause a type of headache caused by treatment.
The associate professor at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences emphasized: If a person uses painkillers for three months and more than ten days a month, those drugs themselves can lead to headaches and pose serious challenges to the treatment process.
Safpour also added: "Treatment of underlying depression can greatly help control chronic headaches and should not be ignored." He concluded by recommending that patients who experience such headache patterns should definitely see a neurologist to begin targeted drug treatments and avoid the arbitrary use of painkillers.
